We decided to rent a SPOT for our new short trip through the Highlands of Scotland. This allows our friends and relatives at home to track our progress, and in an emergency we could use it to call for help. We cannot be sure that any of these messages come through, as we have no way to check this once we are on the trail, and the device is for one-way communication only

Explanation of the messages
  • Tracking:
Shows our last known position on the map. When turned on, this function will send our position every 10 minutes.
  • OK:
This message means we have arrived at our destination safely.
  • Help:
This message means that we are delayed and need to deviate from our plan. Such a delay can be caused by a minor injury, bad weather conditions, or conditions on the trail.
Note: This message can be sent without location data.
    Note 2: No Action required
  • 911 / SOS:
This message will only be sent in the case when one of us incurs a severe injury, or to help others in need. Sending this message should result in a rescue operation.
Note: this message can be sent without location data.

Our location will appear on the map below. In the case this map doesn't work, the information is also availablehere.
